Hi everybody! I'm alive and finally on lj for the first time. I'm scared to go check for all the updates I missed. Anywho, I've been here in Germany for about a week now. It's alright. The city is pretty cool, fairly big. It's funny though to hear all the otehr Americans complain about how things aren't open late (aka not past 7 or 8 and not on Sundays), and I'm like 'hey this is better than business hours in Holland!' Gotta love small towns.
I'm still kind of lonely here. I haven't seen much of my suitmates, they seem nice (well, one seems a bit....cold). The other americans....well a number of them just aren't my type, as I have so far seen. Like sorority party type girls. I didn't come to Germany to get drunk, I cam for other things. But there are a couple people that seem cool. But, like I said, I've only been here a week. It's early yet.
I was in France this morning, in a city called Strasbourg. That's where the European Parliament has its headquarters. The program took us there this morning, where we got to listen in on a session, and we got to ask questions of a member of parliament. That was pretty cool, even if I didn't understand all of it (not much knowledge on current issues). It took us forever to find a fairly cheap place to eat, and even then it was a bit more pricey than the places in Freiburg, which I suppose is to be expected. It is France after all. We got a city tour in the afternoon; there is a cathedral in the city that is 140m tall (you do the conversion, but it's huge).
I could say much more, but I'll save it for the moment. Now that I can access wireless in the library, I should be a little more able to get online and update. And pictures will come fairly soon.
