Germans aren't quite as social. Like, the room doors in the suite are always closed, people don't talk to others on the bus, etc.
Bakeries on every corner downtown. So tempting. I really have to try to keep myself away.
Everyone bikes. Not kidding. It's ridiculous the number of bikes you see around here.
Food....it's cheaper at gorcery stores than it is in the US. At least a good chunk of it. Fruit tends to be a bit more expensive, and there's less of a selection. Meat is big here, as expected (brats ja?), which is nice.
The kitchen is a major hang out place. Seriously, there is always someone in the kitchen. Last night there were like 8 people I didn't know in there. Everyone cooks for themselves, so that might be part of the reason.
Stores close at 8. That includes grocery stores (that's the only bummer) I laugh at the others in the program who complain that everything closes so early (aka not 24 hours), I'm used to things closing earlier.
I'd rather work at a grocery store here than in the US. You get off at 8, don't work Sundays, and you get to SIT and scan. I'm so jealous.
Beer is like water. Everyone drinks it, it costs the same as mineral water (I don't drink either- mineral water is gross and beer- well I haven't worked myself up to trying it yet). Tap water ain't available in restaurants, but carrying a water bottle is fairly common.
People say sorry. Like literally ‘sorry’ – not a german equivalent.
Everyone hang dries their clothes. It's mean on towels, but it saves $. Wash here I figured out - 8 washes for 11 euro. Yea, ridiculous. I think I may try and find a laundromat and see if it's cheaper.
Um....that's all I can think of at the moment.
