Got back from my interview this morning in Detroit. It went....well, it went. The guy said I wasn't cut out for sales (I kinda knew that already...truthfully, I wasn't even all that interested in the position), but I gave all the right answers. Um. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing when it comes to interviews. I'm glad I have the interviewing experience for a professional setting.

Still have papers looming over my head. Yikes.

I completely forgot to go to my Mortar Board meeting tonight. Oops. But the geniuses at MB marked me down as present for the meeting. To be honest, I don't think the secretary even knows who I am (she's never introduced herself to me so I wouldn't be surprised). Let's hope the goof goes unnoticed eh? It's only my first unexcused absense, so no 'disciplinary action' is necessary. Yes I said disciplinary action. I think it's stupid, but whatever.

Next weekend they are doing a Thanksgiving dinner for the international students. Which I think is a good idea. I signed up to be there, but I might actually have to work it, if they decide to hold it at Haworth. That said, here's the part I don't like- some MB members are going to be at said dinner to sit with international students and talk to them to make them feel more at home at Hope (MB's words, not mine). How patronizing. First off, all IS's have been here at least 3 months by now. Secondly, some of them have been here for years, I think they feel as much as home as they're going to get. Third, these MB members have no idea what they're doing on that level, and probably will come in with a set of assumptions that is more likely to result in insult than comfort. I've heard stories of the stupid things some people say to IS's, and most of them would rather have the stupid people just shut up than try to "help". The main reason I'm doing it is b/c I'm friends with over half of the international students on campus, and it gives me a chance to hang out with them. If I'm not catering, that is.
