I found out, viewing the neighborhood on satellite in google maps, that the local park has an Olympic sized pool. Except that is it closed for the season. WTF, it's still 90 here.
Thus, the closest open park with a lap pool is Dick Nichols, and they charge only $2 a person. So when I do decide to get off my lazy ass...

Speaking of such, I really need to find a decent place to rollerblade. This neighborhood is too hilly, and since I am not very good, I would probably do a faceplant trying to navigate it. I should probably invest in some wristpads anyway...

Grrrrr. Turns out I may have a more difficult time rollerblading that I imagined. Skates of any kind (in-line, roller, skateboards, etc) are prohibited on the streets. I'd usually skate on the sidewalks anyway, but I'm kind of noticing that the neighborhoods that do actually have sidewalks in this area of town don't look like they've been maintained in years. There's a special trail for bikers and bladers...20 minutes away. :P

I should find someone who plays tennis...

eta: found some interesting things while googling. Austin has an ice rink, who knew.
eta2: UT has a roller hockey team. I have never heard of intercollegiate roller hockey before. Odd.
