I had a post-apocolyptic dream last night and it freaked me out. The reason for the apocolypse was the high price of gas. A war had broken out and a good chunk of the population had died. Later some of those left had turned into zombie-like beings (they still all looked like humans but went into a crazed state at night instead of sleeping).
Bridgman was a ghost town, but Three Oaks was still bustling. That's where I found my mom. Then the bike theives showed up (everyone rode bikes now), and everyone left Three Oaks. They tried to take our bikes, but we stopped them, and put them in my car (some people still had cars. you could get gas, but were testing your luck as the only gas left was what remained in the pumps).
This is when I woke up at 6:30.
When I went back to sleep, it started again. Somehow my mom and I got separated, and I was living in a summer camp-style housing unit for survivors In Sawyer, I think. One day I drove up to get my mom, who was in Holland. Except I couldn't get all the way up there, because people were driving the opposite way in the northbound lanes. There was a mass exodus from Michigan before winter, since there was no heat in the houses anymore (cost of gas, remember). I swerved my way around until I couldn't anymore. I left the car up there for my mom to find, then walked back along the highway, since that was faster than it would be to drive. I ran into
joeysdramaqueen along the way, who I'd known was one of the survivors because she was one of the only people who still regularly posted to lj. She told me I should be rooming with my brother, and not her, but I told her that I hadn't seen my brother in 3 years and that we was probably dead. (She also spoke fluent Russian). We got back to the dorm just as they were cosing the doors, to keep out the zombie people. Except one had gotten in, and was flailing and trying to get into my bunk. I told her(zombie) "the world is watching the earth" and she fell to the floor in the next room going crazy trying to make sense of that statement. Then I locked both doors to my room to keep the zombies out, and went to sleep.
And then I woke up.
