Uh, September 11? Anyone who didn't say that who was my age, I'd think they were crazy.

But the reason I decided to answer this is because my grandma told me about hearing FDR's speech on the radio the day after. She was only 9 at the time (my grandparents are/were all young), but could even recall the way FDR spoke 60 years later.

None of my grandparents have never really talked about growing up. I only just this past year found out that my dad's dad spent time in Germany in the 50s. Grandma G was the one I heard the most from, and this was one story I recall clearly. The others are her talking about listening to The Shadow radio show, and visiting record stores with her friends to sit in the booth and listen to records.

You know those movies/shows about the 50s that shows fun loving girls in the poodle skirts, who have their best friends they go to soda shops with? Minus the poodle skirt, that's kind of how I see my grandma as a teenager. She was a fun loving person, a genuinely nice woman, who kept friends for life. Also, my grandparents met at a roller rink, which is part of why I see my grandma that way, and I think it's kind of cute.

My grandmother died 5 years ago, for those who don't know. I guess just seeing that up on lj's main page made me want to talk about her a little.
