Hi everyone! I cannot tell you how excited I was to come online today and see pictures of 4 of the Nsync boys. It's been so long!
Right now I'm uploading pictures from my weekend in Munich. A group of 10 of us rented 2 cars (a beamer and a benz yes yes) for the weekend and drove over there. No classes this past friday, so we left then. One car had gps, but they took a wrong turn, and we ended up driving down 2 lane roads through the black forrest, til we hit Ulm. Took us like 4 hours just to hit the autobahn. But the views were good, so I'm not complaining. The autobahn is great- I rode in the beamer on the way back and we maxed out the speed. :D
So we got there Friday night around 6 or 7, I can't quite remember. Checked in to the hostel, then headed into town for food. We went to the Hofbrauhaus, which is this really famous beer hall in Munich. My car had stopped on the drive, so I wasn't that hungry, but I ended up getting a huge pretzel there, it was darn good. This place serves their beer in liters (giant mugs, I'll post a picture later). Most people got that size, they said it was the best beer ever, but I didn't partake. We figured we'd go all out and order dessert as well. I got the mixed red berries, which was basically a big bowl of pie filling. It was awesome. We were there for a couple hours finishing our courses, so afterwords we just headed back to the hostel.
Saturday, most of the group went to Salzburg, but I stayed in Munich (I'm going to Salzburg later this semester to visit a friend, so I wanted to stick around Munich). I stayed with 2 other people, and there was another small group that had come to Munich as well (separately) and we ended up meeting up with them. First we watched the Glockenspiel go off (animated clock), then walked around the Marienplatz (center of town) for a little while. We headed up to the Theatinerkirche where there was a rally against the Iranian government going on. I guess there was a NATO conference nearby, so that was why. Ate lunch at a cafe in the city center, this place had soooo many desserts, but I just had a sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate. Everything else sure looked good though, it was very tempting.
So then one guy split to go see some Van Goghs at an art museum and the rest of us went to the town garden, which is about the size if not bigger than central park. We didn't see all of it obviously, but we saw a pond with a gajillion birds and walked around the paths a bit. We took a scenic way back into town, since a couple roads were blocked with cops, passed by a torch that was a monument type thing as Munich's apology for Nazism. When we got back to the center of town, there was another rally, this one bigger, for peace I think. We didn't get too close since it was fairly anti-American. Shopped for just a bit, then hopped a subway up to the Olympic Park. Walked around there for a bit, then headed back for dinner. Ate at a different beer hall, I had lamb shank. After dinner (dinner took a long time) we met up with the people back from Salzburg at the Hofbrauhaus. I had some ice cream there, since it was cheaper there than at the place were I'd eaten dinner. That and I'd been craving dessert since lunch lol. We were there til it closed at midnight, then checked out the other group's hostel and headed to our place for some sleep.
Sunday we drove back, but on the way we stopped at Castle Neuschwanstein. We walked up to it, and got a tour of the inside. Built by King Ludwig 2, the interior was decorated in honor of Wagner's operas. We were there for a couple hours, then just drove back the 4 hours to Freiburg. We stopped by this huge lake 2/3 of the way back, about as the sun was setting. It was a great view, I have a picture which I shall post later.
I took a bunch of pictures, those will come later.
