I'm watching Nordic Combined (which I also watched earlier when the ski jumping part was on, but didn't realize it). Also watched the men's Biathalon. And yes, I am watching all this live. :). A German has won both events thus far. One guy came from 28 after ski jump to come in sixth after the cross country part (they start by time according to where they finished in ski jumping). So obviously there's a lot of excitement on this channel since Germans have won both golds so far.
Ok now on with the updates. Speaking of Olympics, I just bought tickets to curling on Saturday. Alpine skiing was a tad to pricey. But hey, it's the Olympics! There also appears to be a medal ceremony for something I could get into. Either way, I'm going to Torino next weekend to check out all this excitement. I love the Olympics. :D
These past couple days I was in Geneva. Field trip. We went to the UN complex there.

Thursday, got up at 4:30 in the morning so I could get downtown and hop on the bus before 6. Not so much fun. Started out talking to someone from peacekeeping, and what peacekeeping is about. Then we talked to someone from the Human Rights department, that was surprisingly rather uninteresting. Ate lunch in the cafeteria there (I think before the human rights guy actually), it was alright, rather pricey though. After the human rights person, we talked to someone from the Austrian mission to the UN. Austria is running the presidency of the EU right now, so that's why.
Around 6 we checked in at the hotel, and got to change out of business attire. At 7 we went to a Swiss restaurant and ate Fondue. I'd never had fondue before, and I must say it was delicious. Very filling. I swore I was not going to eat cheese for like a week after that.

Afterwords, a group of us went wandering in the dark around Geneva. Some of us had too much fun at a little park we found.

We went a little bit around the lake (it's a monstrous lake), then went into the old city and found a park that was dedicated to religious figures, I think. We were exploring for a couple hours, so that was that evening.
Friday, woke up around 7 (much better than 4:30), had breakfast. Went back to the UN to speak with someone from the Refugee organization. That was pretty interesting, though at one point it turned into a discussion about immigrants. Then we spoke with someone from the WTO about what was going on with that organization lately (Doha Round conferences, recent cases). Ate lunch and left to go to the mission of the EU to the organizations of the UN. The EU is not a UN member, but they are a member of the WTO (which is somehow indirectly incorporated in the UN). There we talked again mainly about the WTO.
It was an interesting weekend, though I was slightly disappointed in some aspects. Before we went, we had talked in classes about the WTO. Then we weren't able to go there, which we were originally supposed to do. At the UN building, we just stayed in one conference room for all the talks.

From the ride home. I think it's Mont Blanc (at least the bus driver said it was over there), but don't count me on that. It might just be some random Swiss alp. But it's still a good picture.
