Day 1, Thursday: Frankfurt. We weren't here long. We went to the European Central Bank, where a guy from the press office gave a presentation and showed us a cheesy cartoon about inflation. Afterwords we had about 2 hours to get lunch and walk around Frankfurt. I had just a sandwich that day, so I could see a little more of Frankfurt. I get the impression that it is a very modern city, lots of businesses there. I bought some Germany playing cards while I was there, just because they looked pretty cool. One can always use playing cards anyway. I had forgotten my jacket before I went to the ECB, so I was freezing. I saw a church while there where I think 6 (or maybe it was 10, I can't remember) emperors of the Holy Roman Empire had been crowned. Other than that, the church was nothing special, it just didn't look as cool as many of the churches I've seen here.
Hopped on the bus and headed over to Luxembourg. I want to say we got there around 6, though it could have been later. Checked into the hostel, wasn't too bad of a place. We went into town to find something to eat, a lot of places were closed because it was some sort of holiday, and the places that were open were really expensive. Ended up at some Italian place, where the menu was in Italian, and the waiter spoke only Italian and French. Ordered an ordinary cheese pizza, one to call it safe, and two because it was the chepest thing on the menu (and it was still 9 euro!). It was good though, and pretty big. After dinner, which I suppose was around 8:30 or 9, we (being me and 3 others) walked around Luxembourg. It's a cute city. A medieval feel to it. Who knows what time I got back to the hostel, but when we got there, we found the tv lounge and watched the finals of women's figure skating (the Olympics were still going at this point). I think I saw about the last 10 skaters. And there is no way Sasha Cohen should have gotten second, what with falling majorly twice during her free skate.
