'what do you think of people from....(insert country here)?' I hate it when people ask me that! I haven't had germans ask me that, but my tandem-partner has, and so did this one guy I met in Italy who was from Mexico. Like, I don't know what I think of people from (insert country here). If you're a nice person, you're a nice person, if you're not, then you're not. I don't hold any general opinion on people. That's what makes people people is their personality, I think.

What is it that prompts people to ask questions like that? Is it the idea they hold about Americans? Is it an underlying assumption that all people hold strong prejudices? Or something else entirely?

I think that America is the most popular (and so most hated) girl in school, and so when other some people countries get together, they want to do what so many teenage girls do....gossip. They want dirt, they want to get your opinion, they want to feel like they're dragging something juicy out of you. They feel inferior, bullied, or otherwise ignored and so that's what they do. It's human nature.

Ok, serves me right for only half paying attention to what I'm typinh while on the phone.

"I think that America is the most popular (and so most hated) girl in school, and so when other some people countries get together,..."

..is supposed to read..."and so when some people in other countries..." Am I dyslexic?
