How terrible am I that i still have not posted pictures from my trip to Eastern Europe? I´ll get there, I promise!

So bored. In my post-holiday funk. You know, don´t feel like doing anything. I have to write an 8-10 page paper by Friday. Its currently 3 pages, and mostly just bullshit.
I had planned on going to Istanbul this weekend, but I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go with me. :( So now I am trying to plan a last minute trip to London. May be expensive, but I think I can pull it off. Either way man, I need to get the heck out of Freiburg. 4 day weekend, I can't stay here. Something about this city is depressing. maybe b/c I have no one here. Only 16 days left until the end of semester. Hooray! Then it's 2 weeks of travel with my mom and I'll be back on Memorial Day. I want to see everyone this summer, I don't care how far I have to drive to do it.

K so yes, I leave Florence and head to Rome. On the train, the Japanese people across from me talked to me for a little while and gave me some type of Japanese snack. Nice of them. :) (unfortunately, whatever it is, isn't that great)
k um....10 am, I'm in Rome. I wasn't able to find the bed and breakfast right away, and was walking around a rather sketchy area. The asian ghetto of Rome, it felt like. Luckily I found a hotel, and the guy at the front desk handed me a map and pointed me in the right direction. Unluckily, I wasn't too far from it, meaning I had to stay in this area. Checked in, and tried calling the people I was supposed to meet. My phone kept saying 'unable to connect', so I tried calling the IES center here to see if I had the number right. Phone kept telling me the same thing. I started freaking out. There were some germans in the lobby of the b&b, so I asked them how to call Germany from Italy- turns out I was missing a zero.
Still uneasy, I took my map and headed out to see some of Rome. Grabbed some lunch at McD's, just because I really didn't feel like searching for a place. Bought a book, since I had a lot of travel time left, and I had finished Memoirs of a Geisha on day 2. Angels and Demons was one of the cheapest they had- I wasn't a big fan of the Da Vinci Code, but nothing else looked overly intresting. Not like my selection was that large.
So then I head over to the Spanish steps, but not without grabbing some gelato on the way. Papaya flavored- it was delicious. Spanish steps are, well, they're steps. I wasn't impressed. So next I head over to the Trevi Fountain, which was much more impressive. Then from there to the Pantheon, which was closed for some reason or another. I swear, there was more stuff open on easter Sunday in Florence than on easter Monday in Rome. The door was open a crack, so I was able to peek in. From there I happened upon a temple facade, then to this square where ruins had been uncovered (also of temples). Now home to most of Rome's stray cats. It was cool though.
Walked down by the river, and located the place my guide said had the best pizza around, but since there was nothing in that area, I figured I wouldn't be back for dinner and just moved on. Walked the river, it was kinda drizzly at this point. Rome is much greener than I imagines, and much greener than most big cities I've been to. Followed the Tiber from the island up to Castel D'Angelo- the castle of angels. So named because of the angel on top, I think. Crossed to river over to a Masoleum that Ceasar Augustus had built. It's amazing to think of just how old Rome is. And that some of this stuff is still standing. From there to....Piazza Navona, which is an enclosed square with 3 fountains. There a clown was putting on´a show- which I watched for a while, it was prety entertaining.
This area had a lot of restaurants surrounding, so I decided to eat there. Pizza of course. :) Followed by what else, more gelato. Kiwi this time. I usually don't have the same flavor twice. The place I'd gotten some after lunch seemed to be better though.

Since I was still wary about my area, I went back to the b&b, before it got to be too late. Talked with the german girls that were there in the same room I was. Read for a while, and decided that the next day I was going to hit the Vatican.

K, so yea, not a very exciting entry I know, but I really do feel blah right now. Trust me, it was more exciting than it sounded.

Girl, please. I need to see them! Show me. If it's the meditteranean area of Italy, you're talking about my people!

*blink blink* please?

I second that. Take a few days to wipe the travel off and get some pictures up. That's awesome that you managed to do this all alone. My admiration to you!

Woo! I have to write a paper by Friday too, 12-15 pages... and since I've been deathly ill (bad case of the flu, saith the Health Clinic) I haven't even started!!! So basically the whole thing is going to end up being BS. Haha.
