It's obvious the TA's for this year look down on me. The french and german TA's at the German club (HA. I was the only german club person who showed up) Oktoberfest celebration had no interest in talking to me...well the German TA had never met me before so maybe things might go better.....but when she met me she just automatically assumed I was a 101 student- it was seriously the first thing she asked after I told her I took German(oh, are you in 101?). Man, I have been taking german for 7 freaking years!
And the spanish TA....well she just thinks I hang out with international students because it's a nice way to learn about other cultures. Again with the 'ignorant white Hope students who need to be educated' assumption. Yea, at dinner in Chicago I told I came on the trip b/c a. I was around for fall break and b. a number of the people on the trip were people I hang out with. And she says, "oh that's good, you get to learn about other cultures", or something very similar to that. Like, I can't just be friends with these people because I like them? It has to be a learning experience? So am I rooming w/ my roommate because I can learn about minorities, not because we get along really well and I'm the only person she's ever been able to share a room with?
