Went to bed at 2:30 last night (I think it was that nap I took), woke up this morning at 9am. I have no idea. But I feel ok. I was lazy most of the morning, and stayed in pajamas til noon.

Landlord just came by. Wanted to know what the deal with the crazy dryer is (it takes multiple cycles to dry anything), and how things were going on the roommate hunt (in a nutshell: they aren't). He also said that the guys next door are moving out. Maybe it's time I jump ship here too, shortly, and go for my own place. If my job becomes permanent, I could afford a one room or efficiency in certain parts of town. Being here alone now, I really like living by myself. My lease is up in June, so it would have to wait til then.

One thing that really sucks about those guys leaving is that the couch and tv belong to them. The tv is not a big deal, but I really really love this couch. I'm going to ask if I can buy it off of whichever one of them owns it. It's a little older, and maybe they'll want a new couch anyway, because I seriously don't want to part with this thing.

Nearly had a heart attack when I checked the mail and there was a bill from the Austin Radiology Assn. I was afraid of another $2000 medical bill, but luckily it was only for $15. I can do $15.

I'm thinking about going to see The Watchmen today. Everyone seems to be buzzing about it. I tried to get my ex-roommate to come, but she's not responding to my email. Oh well. And I will have to fight the SXSW crowds (eep), but I feel like getting out today. I suppose I could go see The Reader or Defiance, and avoid the Drafthouse altogether, but the Drafthouse is much cooler.

I hope this doesn't put anyone off, but ( joining a new fandom scares me a little )

I went out and got some books this afternoon. One on anthropology, one on how legalese jargon differs from standard english (was on the bargain racks, though I'd give it a look), and one on the history of Sesame Street. Yay books!

I have someone coming over at 6 to look at the apt. Someone my landlord has been in touch with, and originally wanted a place north but is going to school in the southern part of town. It's a guy. My initial reaction was "um....", but I thought I would meet the guy first and see how I feel about it then. Benefit of the doubt. We'll see how that goes.

So. The Watchmen. That movie was fucked up. Talk about a bleak picture of the nature of humanity. That's really not a thought I like to share in. Also, the soundtrack is really fucked up too. Just the contrast of songs to the movie were weird.

I may have been the only person in the theater laughing when Veidt was talking about how he wants to be Alexander the Great. The elevator music playing the background? Was "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" by Tears for Fears. Perfection.

I can tell this about the guy who wrote it: he clearly does not like Nixon. And you can tell that this was written during the era of serious cold war paranoia.

It was a well put together film, but I can't say I'm a fan plotwise.

In other news, I totally want to see Star Trek now! Live long and prosper!
