Nearly had a heart attack when I checked the mail and there was a bill from the Austin Radiology Assn. I was afraid of another $2000 medical bill, but luckily it was only for $15. I can do $15.
I'm thinking about going to see The Watchmen today. Everyone seems to be buzzing about it. I tried to get my ex-roommate to come, but she's not responding to my email. Oh well. And I will have to fight the SXSW crowds (eep), but I feel like getting out today. I suppose I could go see The Reader or Defiance, and avoid the Drafthouse altogether, but the Drafthouse is much cooler.
I hope this doesn't put anyone off, but .
Never thought I'd ever say this, but I don't feel geeky enough to be in the BSG fandom. Yes, this despite the fact that I know more than one DM.
Or rather that I am the wrong kind of geek. I'm very much a culture geek. Traditional latino festival? I am so there. Discussion on Islam in modern life? Count me in (actually, there was one last week, but I was sick and missed it :(.) I am not a sci-fi geek by any means. Sci-fi was always my dad's thing and I shied away from it and went for the historical novels instead.
So yea, I feel a bit out of place in BSG. Also, everyone is super intelligent and I have yet to read a bad story out of the comm I'm in. I will readily admit that I am not the best writer out there, nor am I much good at meta. Though...that is pretty much my place in popslash too, isn't it? It's still intimidating though. Especially as I'm a newcomer to a well established fandom.
And here I am listening to Britney Spears.

I mean, sure, I have classical cds. But I am also a huge fan of Charlton Heston's scifi film phase. I have all three seasons of Gilligan's Island on Dvd, and Rescue from Gilligans Island and I eagerly scan for the other movies to be released. I... have written Mighty Morphin'Power Ranger fanfic.
And I can sometimes be drawn into cultural discussions :)
Yer not out of place! Look! TrannieMessAJ!

I'm rap there. But Mele and Dagmar write good stuff as well.
I also wrote an ER crossover with STephen King's "The STand" that is as long as Going Native.
