So I finally heard some Adam Lambert yesterday, thanks to phaballa. I can't say I'm a convert, but I do kind of like his version of One by U2. Even if he leaves out a couple lines.



It falls somewhere in between the U2 version and the Mary J Blige version of the song. The U2 version is pretty subtle and quite raspy. I don't like it at all, but I'm not a huge U2 fan to begin with anyway. The Mary J version, on the other hand, is packed with raw power in the way that a number of her songs are. I love this version, and am glad I was in Europe when it was released because it never caught on here. Glambert doesn't go for the rasp of the original and he switches between subtle and power in different parts of the song, while somehow not making a huge dichotomy between the two.
