I was watching the paralympics online yesterday, and when I tuned in they were just finishing up the women's standing biathalon. They showed this lady taking off her skis, and both her arms ended just before where her elbows would be. Would someone care to explain how the hell you shoot a gun with no hands? The things these people are able to do just amazes me.

Had some friends up from Del Rio for the weekend. I went to high school with them, he's in the air force and is being relocated soon. Since they'd never been to Austin, I showed them around a little, and we went mini-golfing, which is always fun.

Also went out to dinner with a couple people I met recently at a Hope/Calvin event. Overall, a fun weekend.

Just got back from the Veloway. Met some people there who are competitive inliners. They're out training for the Road Rash, which is a local inline marathon in April. I'd consider training for the half if I knew I wasn't going to be out of town that weekend. I suck, but I suck at everything when it comes to sports, and admittedly, I kinda miss competitive sports. I was never any good, but it was always fun. They were telling me they have short track inline here as well, and I may go check that out some Friday, though short track does seem a bit terrifying.

I asked them how much their skates were (they look like tennis shoes on giant wheels, and frankly look more comfortable than what I have)...$500+. Yikes!

One of them also mentioned having competed in a race before that was 87 miles. Took him 6 hours. I can't even imagine skating that long! That's like, here all the way to San Antonio. Just the sound of it makes me tired.
