Just got back from the Veloway. Met some people there who are competitive inliners. They're out training for the Road Rash, which is a local inline marathon in April. I'd consider training for the half if I knew I wasn't going to be out of town that weekend. I suck, but I suck at everything when it comes to sports, and admittedly, I kinda miss competitive sports. I was never any good, but it was always fun. They were telling me they have short track inline here as well, and I may go check that out some Friday, though short track does seem a bit terrifying.
I asked them how much their skates were (they look like tennis shoes on giant wheels, and frankly look more comfortable than what I have)...$500+. Yikes!
One of them also mentioned having competed in a race before that was 87 miles. Took him 6 hours. I can't even imagine skating that long! That's like, here all the way to San Antonio. Just the sound of it makes me tired.
