K, on the 90s thing, they were talking about how Smells Like Teen Spirit defined high school for that generation. And I was trying to think of a song that defined my high school years. I simply could not come up with one. I had to go look at a list of top songs from each year just to figure out what was on radio when I was in high school. Of course, the way I define things, TIPY was released very beginning of freshman year, Girlfriend my sophomore year, Justified when I was a junior, and Schizo came out near the end of my senior year (*side note* JC why have you not released an album since I graduated high school? Why?????? *cries*). But like, otherwise, there are only a handful of songs I have distinct memories of, and even then I could not tell you for the life of me which year they were released. I can define what marked my 4th grade year better than high school. And on those lists, probably over half don't get played anymore. Everyone still knows the words to Baby Got Back, No Diggity and California Love still get regular air time on top40 radio (at least around here), and songs that came out 4-5 years ago are all but forgotten. What's that say about the music that's been released this decade? Honestly.

If you feel like sharing, I'm curious to know what song, songs, or artist defined your high school years, if you can think of any or if there really was any. (I know this is gonna put dates on people, so you don't have to share if you don't want to.)

For me it was A-ha in secondary school. I loved them so much, you couldn't see my bedroom walls for posters.

I'm really curious to know, how big was A-ha in your parts? I think they only ever had one hit here.

Back then they were huge, and had quite a few hits. They were very much the boyband of the time.

They're still releasing stuff, aren't they?

It would be hard to do that at the moment, too much Christmas music in my head. but one that always sends me back every time I hear it is Big Pun, Don't Wanna Be a Playa, straight back to senoir year. Good times.

was NSYNC anywhere on the list? I missed some big gaps.
