First of all, huge thank you tobossymarmelade for running such an awesome challenge!
Since I a) really can't pick just a handful of favorites because there was so many awesome fics! and b) don't want to give any hints on what I wrote, I present to you my thoughts on all of them. :D
A * designates that I have not read the original fic that the remix came from.
Demi-monde (the georgette heyer tribute mix)*- 19th century Britain AU. With sex. Sex in high-minded vocabulary feels a bit odd to me, I have to admit.
JC chasez, full of grace (the southern comfort mix)- Joshlynn, to a whole new level of wrong!
Puppies (the in space remix)*- Anyone who has ever had to write an essay will appreciate the humor of this fic.
Walk like a camelidae (the doctor dolittle talk talk mix)*- Lance is a llama. I love people turning into animal fics so much, it's like my favorite genre.
After all these years (the second first time mix)- I like the Justin's thought process in this one, and that we really don't know if it's going to be happily ever after or not.
Warm oil and an innocent smile (the french quarter mix)*- Lance and AJ in New Orleans. Which is a fantastic setting for a story, really.
Now that's what i call a motherfucking oedipal complex (the "so tell me about your mother" mix)- Justin tells his shrink everything. A delightfully neurotic Justin at that.
What JC did when he disappeared (the exile in boysville mix)- The AU version of JC becoming a BSB groupie. No GSF, but lots of sex. Plus Kevin!, who was clearly lacking from my original. And JC actually questioning his groupie/ not-life-having status.
(side note, I was watching 100 greatest songs of the 90s this morning, and just realized the title comes from a Liz Phair album. anyway, carrying on)
The itch (the invisible man mix): SO awesome. I can't say much more without giving away the end, so, yes.
Beautiful (the skin deep and glitter mix)*- It started off good. I was really pulling for it to be Kevin in drag though.
All day long (the no logo mix)*- Threemanbus in Walmart. Simple, but wonderful.
Till the morning comes (the stars of track and field mix)- I think is one of the ones that you really have to read the original first, otherwise it won’t make a lot of sense (I went back and read it after finishing). I feel like both are very complex, in separate ways.
The way of the world (the all this is mix)*- fabulously written group dynamics
Also includes wax, water, and evil (the bubbling inside mix)- Cramp, with included lampsex! A wonderfully fun story
Rescue me(the to the rescue mix)*- Lance is rescued from a bad date. Adorable baby trickyfish.
Sink beneath the sun (the like riding on the wind mix)*- To me feel like a ‘that’s what friends are for’ fic, which I like.
Straight out from underneath (the so put me down, punk mix)*- What was originally a lambs story is now a Britney story, and it’s really an interesting read
Decide to break (the abstract mix)*- Chris ends up…in a painting. Totally trippy.
