Since I've been whining about it all day, and stumped on the best way to describe it, my forearm looks like this:

Not the clearest picture, but you get the idea. I tried cortizone on the ones on my legs, which did bring down the itching if nothing else.
I've found that the closest urgent care facility is down is South Bend. 40 minutes from here. I really don't want to have to wait til Tuesday to make this go away. I had plans for tomorrow, I'm not sure whether to cancel or not. Will see how I feel in the morning.

Why yes, I am freaking out.

Doesn't look good. :( I mean, could be worse, but definitely doesn't look good. You don't know what it is right? It might be scabies. Which are a huge pain but will eventually go away with some proper meds.

I told her it might be scabies, too! Steph, it's super easy to get rid of if it is scabies, but you do need to see a doctor to get the prescription. It's just a topical cream that you rub all over, and it kills them. The bad part is that you have to wait for your skin to shed the dead bodies before the rash goes away completely.

When you see the doctor, make sure to say you think it might be scabies. It's not all that common and it took me an ER trip (they thought it was an STD...) and then a whole team of doctors at my regular place to figure it out, since I tested negative to everything :P

Yes, exactly. Good advice. She should probably print some info out even to take with her. I had friends that went through it for a lot longer than they needed to because the doctors kept telling them they were getting bit by carpet mites. :/ Until finally they discovered it was actually indeed scabies. :/

Hi. I'm Kit. I'm a friend of sic_gurrl. She asked me to come look at your pic. It looks like it could be scabies. I've had them before and it sucks, but some meds will take care of it (if that's what it is). Take a look at some of these pictures for comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scabies . If you think it is scabies, I would try dabbing some rubbing alcohol on the spots until you can get to a doctor.

Hope that helps!

And to go along with what Kit said, here's another link that might be useful- http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/scabies/factsht_scabies.htm

Eeeew gross.

Actually, some other people here mentioned scabies and some people at Hope recently got exposed to it (from a Japanese exhange student, I think...) Have you been around Hope lately?
