Moving? what's up?

Yea, moving. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this.

It can be hard... it feels hard for awhile... but it does get easier. I just had to remember WHY I moved, and how much I really wanted to get away from where I was. Would you be devastated to go back? Did anything happen?

Nothing happened, I'm just stressed and lonely.
I really don't want to move back to Bridgman either though.

Well what's going on? Maybe we can fix it, whatever it is.

I'm just...starting to doubt myself moving here

Well, nothing is permanent, you know? Moving far away from what you've always known is hard. But I survived! And you will too. And if it gets to be too hard, there's no rule that says you can't go back.

We all make mistakes, hon. Maybe we can help.

After the shock wears off, comes the 'oh shit!' And then comes the 'ok I can do this'. And then comes the 'this is awesome!' And then comes the 'I FCUKING HATE IT HERE!' That lasts for a minute... and then comes the 'I'm alright, here. It's cool. I think I'll stay'.

At least that's what happened to me! *lol*

I read that it takes about a year to adjust to a new place... give yourself some time.

*hugs* See if there's local clubs to go out and try something - maybe if you go somewhere you can meet people?

*hugs* You're still at the really scary stage. Haven't settled in yet, haven't found friends, haven't got comfortable with where you are. And it does take time. Who knows, today could be the day you walk along the street and get into a chance conversation with the person who's going to be your best friend. Don't let yourself get downhearted - get in there, into whatever it is that you enjoy doing when you're not at work, and give it some time. It isn't easy, doing what you've done, but you *can* make it work, and think how much of a boost it'll give you then!

I wanted to post, and forgot, that one of the things that helped me out a LOT was www.meetup.org. There's a newcomers group in almost every city, where groups of 'new people' gather to see the sights and go out and make friends. I've made a ton of friend through meetup and especially in big cities it's a nice laid back way to get to know people on your own terms. All you have to do is show up!

It's exciting at first and then doubt settles in once your done with the big move, but I think you need to give it time. You will settle in, find friends and a job you want and I think you will like it. It's a big change, but let's face it, at least something is going on down there...you don't want to be in Michigan now.

No you didn't, you're just freaking out because of all the changes in your life. Just give it time! And if it still doesn't work out, you can always move again.
