I agree about the hip hop - I didn't expect to be made really happy with it, and I wasn't, it was not bad but it didn't make me !!happy!! like both last week's dances did. I really hope he hasn't blown it by not doing a fabulous freestyle. I'd like him to end up at least second - equal to Joey's result would be fine!

The samba was better - nice to see some proper hip action! I haven't seen Brooke's freestyle, but I think what troubles me about her is that she doesn't really connect with the music. It was so obvious in last week's Jive - she couldn't figure out where she was because she'd missed a step, whereas if she'd had more musicality and understood how the steps and the music worked together, she'd have been able to get back into the groove. Lance *fell down* in one of his dances but got it back together.

I hate that the freestyle is weighted so heavily. They didn't spend 10 weeks doing freestyle, they spent 10 weeks doing ballroom and latin! Why would they not let them choose a style they've done before and do a bonus dance for points. I'm annoyed.

Another boybander better not do this show, I don't want to watch it again.

I suspect that the freestyle is a lot more difficult to choreograph, precisely because there aren't the restrictions. People don't seem to realise that having rules makes it *easier* to be creative! So a lot of the time, expectations for the freestyle are sky-high (They can do anything!) but really hard to fulfill - because being able to do *anything* makes it hard to decide what to do for the best.

Personally, I think it's a shame when the contestants do a freestyle that bears no relation to anything they've done on the show. I didn't like Apolo and Julianne's hip hop freestyle (in Joey's season) for exactly that reason - why spend all that time learning ballroom dances and then toss them away? I liked Joey's so much better, the way he referenced the dances he'd learned to do, and dazzled them up with lifts. That's the idea. Or Drew and Cheryl's completely fabulous "Save a horse, ride a cowboy" routine, which was in the ballroom 'mode' but totally fresh.

To me, Lance blew it with the decision to do a hip hop freestyle, and Lacey blew it with not choreographing some flashier stuff - I haven't seen the whole show but I understand that Brooke and Warren both did a lot of lifts. In fact, I'd not be at all surprised if Lacey wept on Lance's shoulder last night after the show and said, I blew it, I'm so sorry. I can imagine that. (Not that I would blame her entirely, but if they come third, I bet she'll blame herself.)

However, there is yet hope - maybe the voting will prove me wrong! *fingers firmly crossed*

I completely agree with every word! I think what sucks is Lacey is the new kid so she doesn't know that the best freestyles are the ones that sort of throw back to what they've learned... so it's not 'really' a free style.

I do think Lacey will blame herself if they come in third but really? She totally kicked hiney in the creativity department. I looked forward to seeing what she came up with every week.

Well, no member of the Backstreet Boys has yet to do DWTS....

Thankfully I'm not all that invested in the BSB. If I was, I'd shoot myself-- you know it's coming. Nick should start rehearsing now. *lmao*
