Mmk, so, I've been considering grad school. Not using my brain is just driving me absolutely batty, and it's made me realize that I do want to do something that would require a higher degree. Possibly becoming a college prof at some point, who knows.
My mom completely hates the idea, but I'm very seriously considering studying anthropology. Hope didn't have any anthro courses even, but my all encompassing major of International Studies is rather similar, in that it's a multi-faceted look at the function of societies. I took a look at the courses that UT offered for their program, and thought "oo, I'd like to take that class. and that class. and that class." If I'm going to spend my efforts on grad school, I'd like it to be on something I enjoy. I probably wouldn't be going to UT, since I am tired of dealing with their elitist bullshit, and my efforts to contact the department have gone for naught. *snarl* So I'm looking at what other schools offer cultural anthropology MAs. The serious digging will come later, especially since the deadline has passed for fall 2009 programs.
My mom thinks I should go for a PhD in German. I like German and all, but here's the thing: a lot of German graduate programs are very heavy, if not entirely, literature. And reading Goethe over and over and over again makes me want to stab things. I don't much care for literature in the first place anyway.
We'll see where things go as I research more.
