Today is the second Saturday of SXSW. That means it's officially been 2 years since I came to Austin for the first time. And now I can't imagine being anywhere else at this point in my life- Austin feels right for me for some reason.

Settlers meetup today was boring. I got stuck playing with a rookie 50 year old man again. It sucks the fun out of the game when I have to explain every single play to someone, sometimes the same thing over and over. If you're a fan enough to come to these things, at least know how to play first, grr. Next time I go to a board game meeting, I'm putting my foot down and if someone sits down and says "I don't know this game, explain it to me", I'm getting up and finding another game. I think I've been forever spoiled playing with my friends at Hope or something.

Gah, this weekend has been one big disappointment so far. It's...disappointing.

Headed to SXSW tonight I think. Just gonna wander and see if anything sounds good. Third Eye Blind is playing tonight, but my bets are there's going to be a cover charge for them. I have zero cash, I ought to get some shortly.

There aren't covers at SXSW... but for bands you've actually heard of, you have to have a wrist band or a badge.

Settlers? I've never heard of that game. How do you play it?

P.S. Hopefully I won't be losing all respect from you readers, but one of the highlights of the night had to be running into Chris Kirkpatrick from 'N Sync right off 6th Street. My inner 13-year-old obsessed boy band fan came out and I'm still regretting not taking a picture with him. I know, I'm a music journalist and gotta be professional but 'N Sync! Takes me back. Cue "Tearin' Up My Heart"

I wrote back and said thank you to them. :) Nice to hear something positive and that the inner fanperson comes out when he's around :)It's like people dont expect him to be there because he came from a boyband... little do they know the music he's been doing is made of awesome and win!
