After
safenthecity mentioned it in her lj a while ago, I went out and bought Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, because hey, story about Jesus as a kid, written as humor? Count me in! It'd sure piss off a few people at Hope.
I wasn't expecting the author to be so incredibly knowledgable on world religions. Super bonus points for talking about Buddha Nature, but I was having major flashbacks to world religions class reading this book. One of the magi instructs Jesus to become a boddhisatva to his people, and um, I wrote a take-hom test essay on how Jesus was a boddhisatva. I'm almost expecting Jesus to say "the answer to every question is yes" at some point in time. :)
It's also highly amusing how the author uses some off the cuff remarks that reflect actual bible verses, or Sunday school songs. Like when Jesus says "I love all the little chilren of the world." Though the best line by far as of where I'm at HAS to be Jesus: You're sure it was my father? Biff:"Sounded like him." Actually it sounded like James Earl Jones, but I didn't know that back then. I think about died.
sertascheep, you should totally read it.

You know the weird thing about this book is it is actually the only time I've ever actually cared when Jesus dies. I actually cried a little. It was bizarre.

I was kind of disappointed by the ending, I have to admit. I really wanted Biff's take on the resurrection.
