I must admit, I was a bit terrified to check my bank account, but I did much better than I'd thought. I even had money left over. :)
Having been running on pop all weekend long in an attempt to keep my sugar up for lack of decent meals (damn mall food), I am now trying to wean myself off quite so much caffeine. Not working so well thusfar.

Anyway. Con wrap up-
Sunday morning was spent sleeping after getting in at about 3am the night before. I headed to the Con around 11:30-ish to see how long the line was/how much it cost for Patrick Stewart autographs, and also check out the line for Adam Savage autographs. Patrick Stewart would have been for my dad, who was very jealous that I went to Dragon*Con. He's the resident sci-fi geek in the family, seriously, you should see his book collection. It takes up like half our basement. Yeah, so my dad is really into X-Men and was extra jealous when I told him Patrick Stewart would be there. However, his signing wasn't until 2:30 and a few people were already starting to wait at like, noon, so I said frak it. I wait in line for no one's autograph.
So I went to the Walk of Fame instead and saw that Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk for those not in the know. My dad is also a fan of that show,) had no line at all. (And no handler, oddly enough.) My gods, that man's hands are HUGE. Like, twice the size of mine. I'd forgotten, until Rap reminded me, that he's hard of hearing, and when I told him my dad's name, he spit back something like "Brian" or something not even close to resembling my dad's name. I wrote it down for him, and he signed it to my dad.
My dad thinks he's getting something small like a D*C guitar pick. Heh. I can't wait to see his face.

Fearing a second photo disaster like Saturday's, and also because I was too damn nervous to ask on Friday, I went and asked AJ for a picture. Yes, I had to pay, but it was less than a professional one would have cost. That one is missing from my photo post, btw, while I attempt/beg to have the redeye fixed. (Thank you [profile] brennanspeaks!)

Went back to the hotel to grab lunch of my leftover cheesesticks from Friday. BIG mistake. I had the stomach ache from hell until dinner, 7 hours, 3 tums, and one bottle of Sprite later.

While back at the con and on my way down to the dealer room I had yet to hit, I get a text saying that our picture had been rescheduled for 2:45 and everyone needed to get there now. One of those hurry up and wait situations. While nice to get in some more Squee Squad time, I felt sickly and having to stand around wasn't helping much. Thankfully there were no photo disasters this time, and the picture, for those who haven't seen it yet, looks great.

I was really feeling awful at this point, and [personal profile] prophetkristy, [personal profile] blue_crow, and [personal profile] blaaksable were nice enough to sit down with me after I'd gotten some tums and Sprite.

Today's panel! This wasn't my favorite panel, as it was heavy on Mary questions and pretty light on cast interaction. No science guy this time, and I believe all the cast was on this panel. AJ hadn't been listed in the program for this one, but he was there anyway.
Highlights include:
Hatch saying that he didn't play Zarek as a villian, going into how sometimes in politics doing the right is hard, blah blah (Hatch is long winded) then Mary saying "Villian!"
Mary McDonald really liked the use of books as a symbol of Bill and Laura's romance, also noting that "He read verrrry slowly. And she liked it."

AJ, when asked about the Gaeta/Baltar relationship, commented that it was just hero worship in the beginning, and he was Smithers to Baltar's Burns. Then as far as New Caprica, he wouldn't want to be one of Baltar's interns, but Baltar is a omnivore of sensuality and "What happens on New Caprica, stays on New Caprica. There were probably some wild parties on that airplane."

Things you wish your character would have done:
Mary- "I should've gotten drunk"
Kate- "With me"
AJ- "I should have let her steal the election"

A little kid asked what the coolest thing your character did was:
AJ "I got to take over the ship"
Trucco "Flying it into the sun"
Hogan "Taking down a couple of young guys"
Hatch "Well, it's not really cool, but taking out the Quorum was the most powerful"
Luciana "Becoming Top Gun"
Mary "I got to steal an election"
Kate "Coming back as the mother of all cylons"
Kandyse "Rescuing Starbuck was pretty cool" she said something else too, but I forget what exactly
Then Hogan, realizing this had been like a 9 year old asking, said that these were not things to aspire to. :)

Kandyse and Trucco were asked what Lee and Kara's reactions would have been to Dee and Anders hooking up, and Kandyse said that she thought Kara wouldn't have cared, and Trucco said he had been hoping for a knock down drag out fight between him and Lee

If you met your character in real life, what would you say/do?
AJ: "Early Felix, I'd tell him to lighten up. Late Felix, I'd probably just walk the other way"
Mary: "I'd take her shopping."
Hatch "I need a new suit"
Mary "I'd take Zarek shopping"
Ellen "I would not want to party with Ellen." then something about how Ellen really needed some girly time, away from all the men and things that tempted her to act the way she did, and would probably take her to yoga

Things you regret about your character:
Trucco: "I wish I'd slept around more"
AJ: "I'm with Trucco on that one."
Hatch: "I got none."
Mary and Luciana agree
Kandyse "Hook up with Trucco." I forget if it was her or Trucco who said "It was called Unfinished Business."
Kate: "I think I slept around enough."
Hogan: "I regret nothing."

This was also the panel with the So Say We All chants that went down the whole line, with AJ ending with "Line?" before throwing in his "So Say We All".

As you can tell, I remember the later panels a bit more than the early ones. Some of it is starting to come back to me, as I read other people's recaps. Had totally forgotten about Trucco's shtick about the goo on Friday, which was hilarious btw.

After a little while after the panel, Dinner! With AJ! Which I could probably go on about for hours. I have to admit, I was skeptical of him actually coming until Kristy actually got the call while we were at the restaurant. Steph is a doubting Thomas, what can I say. Really though? I previously come from a fandom of an immensely popular group, where this sort of thing would only happen in my wildest fantasies. Someone from tv, sitting down at a table with me for over an hour? Beyond my comprehension. I'm still in a sort of state of disbelief that it actually happened.

I didn't say much during dinner, as I was 3 parts starstruck, 2 parts still feeling ill, and 5 parts just generally shy. I suck at coming up with good questions to ask anyway, so I let everyone else to the talking. I was happy just to listen. :)

My basic summary is this:
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

*ahem*
He's very gracious, and besides letting us ask him a bazillion questions, asked us about what we did/where we were from and what we were doing at the Con. The whole idea of a Con seemed to intrigue him, actually.
I had a total German!geek moment when he said as far as opera, he'd love to play Papageno, both because it fits his voice range and for the character. As much of a ham as he is, I'd love to see it, as that character is one of the most ridiculously silly characters in opera.
If you're not familiar with the opera, here's a clip
I totally hope you are all picturing AJ in feathers now.

I think I shall actually leave the details of what was said to whoever it was that assembled our notes afterwards (b/c seriously, I could type them all, but I don't wanna cause it's a LOT, and I think someone else did it already), but I will simply say that AJ is a totally awesome guy, and I probably couldn't squee enough about the whole experience.
Also? He smells nice.

Ran into Kristy Swanson in the bathroom on my way out, and she complimented my outfit. Shiny pants ftw!
After that, myself, [personal profile] millari, [personal profile] blue_crow, [personal profile] nicole_anell, and [personal profile] blaaksable attempted to play the BSG board game, and failed miserably.

SO SAY WE ALL.

Oh, I was before! And swinging on a swing! (Die Zauberflöte is the only opera I've ever seen.) And I'll be in my bunk!

I love how everyone but Kate and Hogan thought their character should've had more sex. :)

And yes, I am picturing AJ with feathers, and it is hilarious indeed.

Thanks so much for these reports!
