Con report: Monday

Win! Today at work I put this picture up, and first thing this morning, someone asked if he was my boyfriend. :D

Monday morning, after saying goodbye to [personal profile] blue_crow and [personal profile] blaaksable :(, I headed back to the Con to wait in line for the final BSG panel. Most of the Squee Squad had left by then sadly. I ran into the woman who runs 13th Colony...um, I think her name is Vicky? I am terrible with names, and sat with her in line until the panel. There were only four people on it: Kandyse, Luciana, Hatch, and science guy, but there were a lot of good questions asked, so it was a good one. Science guy got a few of questions about what he does, and some of the science stuff in the show, which was interesting to hear about. He declared that Baltar's Dream is his favorite musical piece in the show, and Hatch said his was One Year Later.

I really liked Hatch's answer to "what is Kara Thrace?", in that he said that she was symbolic of the fact that all of us are more than our corporeal bodies.
Hatch also talked about his love for the genre of sci-fi. Does anyone know what the title of the book he talked about is? It sounds like it might be worth reading.

Kandyse informed us all that Trucco smells good. I am completely convinced she has the hots for him. Not that I blame her.

Luciana said she was pulling for Kat and Hot Dog to hook up at some point.

Kandye declared that if she had lived she would have led the mutiny, possibly teaming up with her fellow Sagitarrons. Again, Steph demands fic!
When asked what she thought the funniest moment on the show was, she said she just remembered the off screen stuff, like making eyes at Gaeta and said in one of those sexy voices "Hey Gaeta, contact my DRADIS". My mind immediately wanted to know what [personal profile] prophetkristy's reaction was. :)
She also talked about how she got into acting from originally wanting to go into medicine, and talked about Paul Campbell and the on-screen relationship with Billy when someone asked about it. She was really upset about him leaving the show, you could tell just by the way she spoke. I wanted to run up and hug her she looked so sad. She said her tears in Sacrifice were real. From the way it sounds, Paul doesn't even keep in touch with the cast anymore- they had to ask the mod what he was up to now. :(

When asked if she'd have gotten back with Lee if she hadn't killed herself, her basic answer was no way, but then commented "Where do you go after Apollo?" Hatch then hinted at himself, and science guy threw in "Admiral Cain?" I was both amused and disturbed by that.

After the panel, I met up with [personal profile] prophetkristy to pick up the group photo and say goodbye. I hit up the final dealer room, grabbed some lunch, and ran back to the hotel to grab my bag, since the stupid desk would only keep it til 3. I made it back in time to catch some Robot Battles. It was scheduled in the program for 4 hours, but only went three, so I only got to see the final two. It was still pretty sweet though.
Having yet another hour to kill, my only real option was back to the dealer booth, where I nabbed a board game dealer and forced him to give me some recommendations. That killed a good chunk of time. And I didn't buy anything! You should be proud of my ability to resist temptation.

Being at the Con on the last day was so depressing. There weren't many people left, hardly anyone in costume and all, and everyone was leaving. I didn't want it to end!

In final words, [personal profile] millari, [personal profile] prophetkristy, [personal profile] rap541, [personal profile] batsojopo, [personal profile] blue_crow, and [personal profile] nicole_anell, I can't say enough about you lovely ladies. *mwah*! I had such a wonderful time meeting everyone. I hope something like this can happen again.

Well, we have to do it again :D

Really, having the hots for Trucco is just... a given. Because, um, hello?

Contact my DRADIS needs to be fanon code from now until always, methinks. xD

Re: Dee in the mutiny... There's this idea that's been in the back of my head of notsuicided!Dee having not been part of the mutiny, but telling Adama she was in order to protect Felix. (Like, she claims she helped plan the entire thing, and though she's lying and Adama knows it and she knows Adama knows it, Zarek sees it as an opportunity and corroborates the story, and meanwhile Felix is horrified that she might get taken down with him. And it would end in one of Dee's Badass Talks to Adama, in which she talks him down and um. I dunno. Puts them in prison instead or something. That's always the hangup, what to do with them after. Alas.)

I am still envious of you and your awesome trip. It sounds like such a fun experience.

You NEED to write that now!

[identity profile] safenthecity.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I have been wanting to for months. The only thing holding me back is an absolute lack of ability to get into Adama's head, even a little, during this time period. :/

Write it! Who cares if they end up in prison? If *all* the mutineers ended up in prison, it might not be that bad of a place...

[identity profile] safenthecity.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, well, I mean, if they end up in prison, I could always have some fabulous epilogue in which Felix ends up on the Great Suicide Mission '09, and actually manages to jump them to a safe planet for logical reasons. Hm.

But really, the issue is more Adama than anything. I honestly don't know what he'd do. I know he wouldn't kill Dee, and she would put herself in the position that he would have no excuse not to if he killed Tom and Felix. His head during this timeframe is not a place I can penetrate. I don't have an Adama muse even a little bit. :/

That was a really good con report. Some of my friends suck at it! ;)
I really want to go to a sci-fi con one day. Up to now I've only been to a few Anime ones. And I don't even like/read/watch anime. Oh! What I do in the name of friendship!

I'm happy you had a lot of fun!

It was good to meet you, and it really was a great con experience.

The Monday BSG panel sounds like a really great time, so I'm glad to read your report.
