So um. Happy New Year? I'm not feeling very festive. I'm not going out tonight, as I really really do not want to drive in downtown Austin tonight. Anyplace else was too expensive, so at home with Anderson and Lance Ryan Seacrest (I don't get CNN) it is. I'll save the partying for my birthday next weekend. I haven't decided what I am going to do yet, though I'm kinda thinking Main Event sounds like fun. Perhaps dinner or something as well (
phaballa?
soylahtayplease? Food, next week?)
And of course the 1999 sing a long sometime in January. Hell yeah!
So saying farewell to 2009...well, it wasn't a bad year. I took lots of weekend vacations, which was fun, got wrapped up in a new fandom, got a JOB, met lots of fun new people... Considering how much 2008 fucking sucked, I give 2009 a thumbs up.
Now as for the decade. This is the first decade that I actually remember the whole thing. I was 4 in 1990, thus too young to remember anything. Dear god, 10 years is a long time. I was still in middle school when 2000 hit. Yeesh. That feels like a lifetime ago. (Though on the other hand, in 3 months we'll be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of No Strings Attached, which is hard to believe was that long ago. So I guess it all depends on how you look at it.)
Remember 10 years ago when everyone was afraid the world was gonna end because of Y2K? Ah the memories.

M is in Germany, hooking up with G. My friend who was going to visit tonight canceled. My other friend I was going to see is sick.
So, I did something I don't usually do: I went to a movie by myself, and saw Avatar. I was moved by it. I think it is worth seeing, and enjoyable.
1990 was the year I went to England for Junior Year Abroad, fell in love, got laid for the first time, and so forth. It was a profoundly transformative year for me, although in many ways I remained a prisoner of my own BS, alas. 2000, in contrast, was not as much so, but that was the high water mark for my time in grad school in terms of feeling like I belonged, and in being at peace with myself. It's also the moment that, in retrospect, started the ball rolling for M and I to team up.
Sorry you are spending New Year's alone. Try and look in the mirror, and seeing someone you love. It's tough, but maybe it will help.

(I know I'm the one who should probably be picking, but I like trying out new places around Austin.)
