I gots Texas plates! Yaaaaaaay! And I got rid of my old car. I can drive my shiny new one now. :D

I keep having bizarre dreams. Saturday I dreamt that I was in a marching band competition in Philadelphia. The day before the actual competition, I snuck away to meet [profile] ls_mutant. We played tennis at some point.

Then last night I dreamt that the Texas Water Works Commission (not a real agency, btw) was replacing a broken pipe and discovered a dead body. My agency sent me and one of the attorneys I work for to investigate, and to tell them what to do in this instance. My dad for some reason was there and was part of the team that was helping to do the digging (my dad works in water treatment and actually does replace broken lines as part of his job). When I got back to my agency, one of my friends from high school was there in a brawl of some sort.

Oh hell yeah I was a band geek. Color guard 2 years, trumpet section 2 years. You wouldn't know my school (trust me), though we did go to BOA nationals twice.

Actually, that post from a couple days ago "hug a trumpeter day"? That picture is me about 3 years ago.

Oh, that's cool! I went to Centerville High School, we placed 5th at BOA Nationals my senior year. (Ah, good times...)

Huh, I've never heard of anyone defecting back and forth between trumpet and colorguard. In my band it was mostly we fickle flutes who played that game. But that's cool! :) Competition band is the best thing ever.

That's cool!! We never did very well at BOA. We were lucky to get invited I think.

We actually had percussionists on our color guard even, which is extra unusual. But we had a really good guard. I did winter guard one year as well, which was fun but exhausting.

BOA was the most fun thing ever. But we had the advantage of being a very inbred little group of bandies. (Our director had been there 30 years, and was married to one of his former drum majors, who was also the flute section leader, and their son wrote a lot of our music/teched percussion; the percussion director and the guard director were married. It was really a tight-knit group, which I truly believe helped a lot.)

We had one girl defect from guard to percussion, which was fun. I did winter percussion my senior year playing cymbals. (We actually had two winter guards and two winter percussions. One was basically a training ground for the better group. We were extremely lucky to have the support and funding we did.)
