Believe it or not, he's actually not the one I'm going to use today. Gaeta's my favorite character to fic, but as for what was presented on screen, there's actually another character I love even more. (It's also not a BSG character.)
But Felix love!!!!! Yes!!! So, the picture I would have used if I'd chosen Felix:
(Because as much as I love our boy, for the first two seasons, Galen was my favorite character. From the minute he begged Tigh to given him a few more seconds to get more of his guys out of the hangar deck I started to fall for him, and when he taught Cally, Sonicus, and Jammer how to make booze right without killing themselves, I fell completely in love with him. Too bad he disappeared by 4.5.)

Gaius started out being my favorite character. I think I fell in love with Gaeta after the soap episode, where he gets the idea to network the computers while using the bathroom. I loved his secret background genius. Final Cut sealed the deal.

On rewatch, I found I'd really just kind of shoved Gaeta to the side a lot the firs time through. I must completely agree with you about the soap. (Plus, he looks really, really hot there.)
I think Cally died. Chief was awesome until Cally died. I even liked Dirty Hands. Either Cally's death or his Sekrit Cylon Sessions drained his awesomeness. ::pouts:: I never minded that he and Cally were a mismatch, because that was realistic and interesting, but after she died...
