Also, that picture from Roots- interesting story. When I was pregnant with Toby, I worked at the USDA. There was a guy there I got along with really well. He found that scene SO disturbing (and I guess rightfully so) that he was REALLY against me naming my son Toby, because that scene was the first thing that came to mind for him when he heard the name.

I went ahead with it anyway, because I figure Toby's generation won't have seen Roots so much, and because a little blond haired, blue eyed boy doesn't really bring that scene to mind so much, and he was much happier once he knew that it was Tobias for a formal name. But I just think it says something that a coworker was so disturbed by that scene that he had issues with my kid's name. (Something about the power of the movie, I mean.)
