Ate at a little hole in the wall restaurant for lunch today. The inside reminded me more of a summer camp cafeteria than a dine-in restaurant. That's ok though, because the food was excellent. Aster's Ethiopian is the name of the place, guess what kind of food they serve? :) They have a lunch buffet, and I've been meaning to go there since I moved to Austin, so it was about time I finally did. I probably only tried a third of it, they had so much food out. Half vegetarian and half non-vegetarian friendly, so even though I am omnivorous, I know that's it's friendly for anyone I'd want to bring along if I go back. And the waiters were really nice (and pointed me toward the injira after I'd managed not to notice it) so I left a big tip. :)

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence
I think this is the stupidest question of the entire meme, but whatever.

Quantum Leap. The song is so catchy! (Without lyrics. Aside from the Fresh Prince theme, I prefer title songs without lyrics. BSG is ok because the lyrics are in Latin and I can't understand them anyway.) I also like how they intercut Sam's leaps with actual photos from the years he's leaping into. Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XBwWAu2a5U

Oh, and as an aside, I watched the pilot of The West Wing today. Do they talk that fast every episode? It will drive me batty if they do.

I love finding new restaurants. What kind of food is served at an Ethiopian place? I've never been, but it's cool they have vegetarian stuff. :)

Um. Well, Ethiopian is its own distinct cuisine. It's sort of like Indian, in that it utilizes a lot of the same meats and vegetables (except they're cool with beef in Ethiopia) and is heavy on spices. Ethiopian uses different spices than Indian does though, and their dishes are more like stews than curries.

The big thing with Ethiopian is that you eat it with your hands. Injera is a spongy bread-like substance that you tear off pieces and use it to scoop up the other stuff. It's a dining experience, you should try it some time should the opportunity arise. I think it's a hard cuisine to find, but I know there's a few places in Chicago (which is where I first tried it) and one in Grand Rapids. There's actually 3 Ethiopian places in Austin, which really surprises me.

I always like finding new kinds of food. Sadly I've never had Indian, but within the past few years discovered the joys of Thai, Cuban, and Lebanese. There's not much diversity in Bowling Green as far as food, sadly, but I'll try and give Ethiopian a go if I come across it.

You're not far from Toledo, right? Google tells me you can get Ethiopian in Ann Arbor. :)

I ♥ Thai. I'm kind of excited because there are like 5 Thai restaurants in Charlottesville.

If you like Thai, you'll more than likely enjoy Indian as well. I find their curries are pretty similar. Plus you get the awesomeness of naan and paneer.

Oooh, my friends and I will have to make that trek eventually.

I've heard of naan. And I really do love Thai curry. :) It's super exciting that you'll have a choice of Thai places!

They do talk that fast all the time, but you get used to it, and then you come to WANT it. Stick with it for at least two discs!

They talk fast in every episode. And they walk a lot. Used to make me dizzy. But stick it out. First season is really good!
