2. my future roommates, though the person who's been picking up the boxes is my roommate's boyfriend. I've already made 2 phone calls.

Just keep calling an e-mailing. That's way too quick a turn-around to get a replacement the normal way. I don't know how it works if you claim the passport was stolen, if that could get a new one faster, but...yeah, overnight shipping from VA is definitely your best bet.

Also, do you go directly to Canada, or are you staying overnight in Washington first? Maybe you could give yourself some extra time if you had them mail it to you there.
