Ok, I'm stewing and there's next to no one online right now, so forgive me while I vent.

I've had like 5 people tell me no for this thing. It's not like I didn't give enough notice for this thing I'm planning- a week and a half is plenty of time on my friend's clocks usually (heck, most of us plan stuff only 3 days in advance). But darnit if everyone a number of people have plans already! I just....gr. I don't know when I'll be able to see everyone again, you know? I think I have every right to be upset.

I would be ready to spit NAILS! You're MOVING right? Not 'going away for awhile'? I'm sorry, hom. That blows.

Yea, I'm definitely moving. Really dang far away. I'm just not sure some people *get* it.

Yeah and when you're gone they'll be all 'I miss you' and 'I wish we could hang out'... when they could have come to your dang going away party.

I've told the ones who said no to stop by some other day this week....I just hope they do.

I have every sympathy - this is a *huge* deal for you and you want a chance to say goodbye to everyone properly before you go. The trouble is, it isn't so huge for everyone else, because they aren't the ones who are making this big change to their lives. And perhaps they just haven't thought through the fact that you won't be *there* any more... but I'm afraid it's just that simple: it is a bigger thing for you than for anyone else, because it's your life.

Compensate by having a really good going-away party that all your friends will be talking about, so that the ones who didn't make it will feel they really missed out!

Yeah, I know what you mean... and as pensnest said, it's just not so "huge" for everyone else, until you're already gone and then they're like, "...oh." When I had my going away party, a bunch of people "just couldn't make it" - and I'm talking people who live less than 20 minutes away from me and didn't actually have other concrete plans. It sucks, but people are just kind of clueless sometimes. :-(
