On tonight's ep of triple D, Guy went to a Basque restaurant in Boise, Idaho. I find that all kinds of bizarre and awesome. Basque in Idaho, who knew?
Been thinking about grad school while I sit at work doing...not much. I'd been considering anthropology, and while it still sounds interesting, working at a legal office is making me think about law school. I'd want to do immigration law. I applied for the customs and immigration service more times than I can count (we all know how that worked out), so it's definitely something I have an interest in. I wonder if there are any books by people who've worked in that field before. Most of what I can find on "immigration law" is client based, as in, what do you have to do to get a visa/green card/whatever.
I'm currently reading a book written by an anthropologist. A real beginner's sort of thing, on a couple of his theories. His main point seems to be that culture is solely a product of the environment and practical circumstances, which I don't necessarily agree with, but it's an interesting take. I can see where this guy must push a few buttons with a number of people.
Anywho, I don't know if it's just the way this particular author makes it, but I wouldn't want to objectify culture in that way. I like learning about, observing, and experiencing culture, but it's not really all that interesting when you take the people and their feelings about their culture out of it.
I have career objective ADD, that's certainly for sure. There isn't one particular thing I can picture myself doing, just a couple things I know I definitely don't want to do. If anybody out there is in school and not doing so well in certain subjects? It's a blessing, trust me. I realized back in high school that being good in every subject tends to leave you a bit directionless.

Not at all bizarre. Boise is home to the largest concentration of Basque Americans in the USA.
Um, or it opens many doors for you. Some people would rather have the options open to them to make the right choice for them. I don't think that people would count it as a blessing if they were doing poorly in subjects that they were interested in.

I didn't know you used to be an anthropologist. You will have to enlighten me sometime. :)

I didn't study the cultural side of anthropology unless I had to. I focused on the biological/physical side but I'd love to talk anthropology any day! It's still my passion.
