It being technically Sunday already (up waiting for my hair to dry. Had to shower after someone spilled vodka on me. Yipee.), let's do this now.

Day 22 - Favorite series finale


The first half of Daybreak. In case you haven't figured out by this point in the meme, pretty much all the shows I am into are still on the air. Of the ones that aren't: the last episode of Cold Case sucked, I felt the finale for Queer as Folk was just meh not to mention foisting some relationship developments on us that were never alluded to before (Emmett had a huge crush on a guy on the swim team since when?), and the final ep of Quantum Leap had one of the lamest leaps ever, not to mention the text epilouge was, I felt, a cop out.

All this leaves me with is Daybreak. I really liked he first half. So we'll just go with that.

WIP Meme: Post snippets of your works in progress

I don't like to keep a lot of WIPs, but here we go.

Thy Kingdom Come
Felix opened the outer hatch door cautiously. The cylon was sitting down, so he couldn’t see them entirely, but the bleach blond hair was unmistakable. Once he got closer and was able to see her face, he stopped. He recognized her instantly. This wasn’t just any Six. This was Gaius’ Six.

Felix picked up the phone, and motioned her over to do the same. “Six,” he said, greeting her. “Do you have a name you’d rather I call you by?” It felt strange calling her by a number, even though she was cylon. There was something in the look on her face that told him her allegiance no longer lie with them. It didn’t appear to be like the way he and Sharon had changed their minds, it just seemed as if she wanted something different.

“Caprica,” she answered.

“I thought you didn’t like being called Caprica?” Felix asked, recalling that brief conversation on Colonial One.

“Gaius calls me Caprica.” She was still in love with him. Felix immediately felt sorry for her.


Hoshi joins the Pegasus story I recently picked back up
“Hey. Congratulations on becoming an officer. You’re going to be the best. Even better than dad, just watch,” Sara said smiling.

Louis leaned over and hugged her again. “Thanks. I’m not going to be better than dad, but I think I’ll do okay.”

“You are too, I know it,” Sara said, smiling. She turned for the door, but stopped and manuvered her chair back around to face him before once she reached the doorway. “I bet someday, you’ll even become an Admiral!”

Louis laughed and threw a pillow at her. “I will not!” he shouted as he heard her drive down the hall.


Fleet on Earth as Refugees series
Sure, this place wasn’t perfect. But it was a planet, with real people, nice people. Real, nice people, who even spoke Colonial, or “English” as they liked to call it here. No one was sure what had happened to the 13th tribe, since none of the people of Earth had ever heard about them. Actually, none of the people Helo had met seemed to have heard of Kobol at all. Even their sacred scripture, called “The Bible”, didn’t seem to have any mention of Kobol, or the 13 tribes, or any of the gods. The thought among the fleet was that perhaps there was a second Earth somewhere, but everyone was too exhausted to bother looking for it. Besides, this planet seemed just fine.

They’d been staying here for about a week now. It was what the Earth people called a refugee camp and hadn’t been used since the Vietnam War. Helo wondered how far away the planet Vietnam was and what the people were like there. Perhaps the 13th tribe had gone there instead.

Dragon challenge fic I may or may not get back to
Chris scuffed his cleat in the sand of the dugout. He wondered what had possessed Justin to organize this crazy game. Chris’ team was the Dragons, Justin’s, the Kings. It was a subtle play at the old Daze and Knights team names, without being too obvious. It certainly wasn’t because baseball was by any means medieval, Chris was sure of that. They ought to have been jousting if that were the inspiration.

But because Justin thought alliterations were catchy or something, and baseball to him was really just basketball with a couple missing letters, here they were. Chris glanced at JC a few seats down in the dugout. He looked pissed. So did Lance over the other team. The only one grinning was Joey, but Joey was always grinning, so he didn’t count.

My subconscience was apparently frustrated with my alarm clock last night. I woke up this morning and it was on the floor. I know I didn't accidently knock it off my nightstand, because if I had, my glasses would've been on the floor too, and they were still where I'd put them last night.

Day 21 - Favorite ship


You want to know how little I actually ship people when I watch tv? There you go. :)

Most of the shows I watch regularly don't have people kissing very often, and usually when they do, it involves a relationship I don't really care about. So this was sort of an easy choice. Marine!Gaius is hot, what can I say. And this scene makes me want to cheer, because you've wanted this moment for so long. And then head!Six and head!Baltar show up and it gets even better. :)

School's out! Why should I care if school's out, you ask? Because without all the soccer moms and high schoolers on the roads, my commute gets shorter by at least ten minutes! Whee!

Day 19 - Best TV show cast


I have to go with Cold Case again. Usually on a tv show, there is at least one character that annoys me. None of these characters do. Lilly has issues sometimes, but not often enough to bother me much. I don't know how the writers managed to make them all likeable in their own ways, but they did.

I feel like packing. I know I have 2 months yet before I move, but I have a smaller car and more stuff than I did when I first moved down here, so I'm worried about things fitting. So I'm going to try to pack as much as possible in boxes that I can mail.

Ate at a little hole in the wall restaurant for lunch today. The inside reminded me more of a summer camp cafeteria than a dine-in restaurant. That's ok though, because the food was excellent. Aster's Ethiopian is the name of the place, guess what kind of food they serve? :) They have a lunch buffet, and I've been meaning to go there since I moved to Austin, so it was about time I finally did. I probably only tried a third of it, they had so much food out. Half vegetarian and half non-vegetarian friendly, so even though I am omnivorous, I know that's it's friendly for anyone I'd want to bring along if I go back. And the waiters were really nice (and pointed me toward the injira after I'd managed not to notice it) so I left a big tip. :)

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence
I think this is the stupidest question of the entire meme, but whatever.


Quantum Leap. The song is so catchy! (Without lyrics. Aside from the Fresh Prince theme, I prefer title songs without lyrics. BSG is ok because the lyrics are in Latin and I can't understand them anyway.) I also like how they intercut Sam's leaps with actual photos from the years he's leaping into. Oh, and as an aside, I watched the pilot of The West Wing today. Do they talk that fast every episode? It will drive me batty if they do.

After watching 2 Holocaust movies that just didn't do it for me and one really terrible film in the last week, it's about time I picked something good! It's certainly not accurate by any means, but it's fun. Probably what I'd also describe as a "guy movie", but I really liked it.

(God Donald Sutherland looks so young in this movie.)

As much as I enjoyed Band of Brothers, I think I might have to go with



Roots. It's such a classic.

This movie has a way of making you laugh and ripping your heart out all at once. And it’s a Holocaust movie with a happy ending.

However. I tried to like it. I really did. But the truth is, I find Italian to be the most grating, annoying language on the planet. I don’t like children. And I didn't find the main character all that likable. So I just couldn’t bring myself to get into it. Some movies I don't like because they're not good, and some I just don't like completely out of personal preference. This was the latter.

Hahaha, I've been waiting for this one. :D



Mickey Mouse Club! I own 3 seasons of this on DVD, and it's never been officially released. I also own the cd they put out. It's all ledadada's fault. She insisted I watch some of it, being a JC fan and all and never having seen it before. Needless to say, I got hooked. Yes it's a kids show, but there's no denying the cast was talented. JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling..there's a reason they went on to have stellar careers.
Season 7, the final season, is by far my favorite. They got rid of the extra random segments, turned some of the performances live, and the humor grew up a little. Plus- Wipeout!

And as I simply can't post about MMC without a little video...
