I just watched Up, and I think I sobbed like a baby.

From [livejournal.com profile] brighton_girl:
What was the #1 song the day you were born? Google the date and #1 song and then post your #1 song on your LJ - preferably with a You Tube video if you can find one!

I think the song's just okay, but the video has Mikhail Baryshnikov and the late great Gregory Hines. You really can't go wrong with male ballet/tap dancers.

German Cry Me a River?

Yes?
Cause I could almost swear that's Timbaland beatboxing in the background.

20 years ago, the Berlin Wall fell. I've seen part of the wall, and I've studied German history fairly extensively, but it's not like I remember the wall falling (well, being knocked down if you want to get all technical), nor am I old enough to remember communism or feel any sort of emotional significance of that symbol of the end.

I am however, old enought to discuss the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street! Of course I'm not old enough to remember all 40 years, but who hasn't grown up watching Sesame Street these days?
My favorite muppet was the Count. Yeah, I was a nerd even back when I was 3. AH AH AH!

We've got to talking on [livejournal.com profile] truekat's journal about the Pure Michigan commercials. I don't know if they've led directly to an increase in tourism, but I do have to say, for all the crap government we have up there, someone in the Chamber of Commerce did a really excellent job with these. I've seen a lot of state commercials- Texas (which even gets aired down here, how redundant is that?), Utah, Nebraska, Arkansas (I laughed at that one first time I saw it and it's not meant to be funny), but Michigan has honestly done a very successful job of making the state look gorgeous. And hey, some of it actually is. Michigan has a lot of nature going for it, and cute little towns with tulips and the like.

As much as I really, really needed to get the hell out, I do have a sense of pride in my state. It's still home.

So, here's a few videos for you all to see what I'm talking about. It took me watching these on youtube to realize that the narrator is Tim Allen. And yes, he's a Michigander.

Because after all, parody is the sincerest form of flattery.

Or you know, maybe that was imitation.

My pic 365 post will come later, but I just don't feel like uploading pics right now.

Got a list of places to check out from an apartment hunter. It is one thing to have a list based on preferences and another to actually see the apartments themselves. However, I'm thinking about going month-to-month on my lease so I can have more time to do this. It's an option, though it will cost me a bit extra (not that I pay that much anyway). Less stress on my account, however, and gives me more than 5 days to let my landlord know I intend on moving.

I've been reading a book about the history of Sesame Street (over 50% about its pre-television development, which is a bit disappointing considering it took 4 years to develop but has been on air for almost 40 years now). Anyway, I'm getting to the part where they talk about casting, and I didn't remember a lot of the people they mention, so I youtubed them. Nothing like digging up the goodies.

Who wants a little Jean Luc Picard singing the ABCs? :D

or um...Ben Stiller dressed as a cheese!
