Day 05 - A show you hate

The Hills. I sat through one episode at a friend's house. NEVER AGAIN. I can't believe people watch that shit. In fact, I am sorry that this picture is even taking up space on your FL.

Day 4: Your favorite show ever.

Duh. As if you expected anything else.

While I was poking around google images deciding which promo pic to use (it was a tough decision!), I came across this- http://community.livejournal.com/pantsketch/99256.html
BSG cast drawn as Simpsons! I find them amusing.

Joey Fatone, I love you, but....

I NEVER want to see you in leather ever again!

Confession: I have a minor addiction to Code Red (the Mt. Dew product). In any store in Michigan, I can walk in and get it. Here? Utterly freaking ridiculous. When I first moved here, I had to hit 3 different grocery stores to find it in 12-pack (Walmart didn't start carrying it here til spring 09, now they are never out of stock and my life is so much easier). I've already eliminated the stores that never carry it- Target, CVS, certain gas stations. Some places have stopped for who knows what reason- the Shell on Guadalupe, for example. Everywhere else? Total guessing game. Sometimes 7-11 has it, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes Valero has it, sometimes it doesn't. To make things more complicated, some 7-11s carry it and some don't, same with Valero. 7-11 on MLK almost always has it, but the 7-11 5 blocks south never does. WTF??

I did not have this much trouble finding Code Red when I lived in Germany for god's sake. (You think I'm kidding? There was a candy store on the street just north of C&A that sold imported Pepsi products. 1,60 a can, so I allotted myself only one per month and drank cherry coke the rest of the time. This candy store was also the only place in Freiburg you could get root beer. Trufax.)

In short, coca-cola needs to make a similar tasting product. Coke products are so much easier to come by around here.

I wonder, who came up with the standard structure for songs- [optional intro] verse, chorus, verse, chorus, refrain, chorus a few times. And why does everyone write songs this way? Is it like a rule or something, or so ingrained that people just don't even think to write another way? It doesn't even seem to matter what genre.

Got in an argument with an attorney about what "plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2014" meant. I won (because I was right), but I don't think attorneys like being outsmarted by their secretaries. I at least had another attorney back me up on it.

Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)
I have nothing for this. I think the last tv show I started watching from its inception was Desperate Housewives.

Alright yo. I just watched Serenity (the movie). I tried to love it. I really did. I just did not see the awesome that everyone keeps telling me about.

A show that you wish more people were watching

Cold Case. I mean, plenty of people watch it in the US, but pretty much no one on my FL does, so I've got no one to talk about it with.

In Mississippi, you can't apply for a marriage license (without parental consent) until you're 21. I have a lot of gripes about MS, but I give them a thumbs up on this one.

In Michigan prior to 2001: "No...idiot...shall be capable of contracting marriage..." Damn. Too bad they never enforced that literally. ;)

In Michigan, you can also obtain a secret marriage if you provide good reason. The only record will be jept by the judge who married you, and is kept sealed. I have no idea what the point of this law would even be.

Unrelated, I read this on My Life Is Nerdy:
Today, in my final exam for my economics class, I had to write a short section about the pros and cons of the gold standard. One of my cons was that a commodity currency rather than a fiat currency lends itself to ruin if the commodity is ever disrupted by a large influx or decrease in quantity such as a large vein of gold being discovered or if all the gold in Fort Knox is stolen by Dr. Horrible and his trans-matter ray.
and my only reaction was that I wish my econ classes could have been that cool.

Day 1- Show That Never Should Have Been Canceled
John Doe

I doubt if anyone even remembers this one, but I watched every episode. (Apparently Rekha Sharma was in it, and this was years before becoming Tory.) It had great potential to get really interesting and to delve into either sci-fi or human/family interest. The premise was this guy wakes up with no memory of who he is, but he's a genius. Each episode is one step he attempts to figure out who he is. Unfortunately, we never learned because it got canceled before any big reveals whatsoever. :( I believe the show Kyle XY was loosely based on this, and that was more successful, though I never watched it.

Good news though! You can watch the entire series on imdb.
