The University of Michigan called me today, and stated that they might have openings for summer, but probably none for fall. They asked if I was still interested, I told them I'd decided to attend Virginia this fall.

Still nothing from UCLA.


I've been watching Band of Brothers this past week. Featuring one Jamie Bamber (who is in 2 episodes. imdb says 3, but I can't find him in ep 9). I finished it last night, as I didn't want the concentration camp ep to be the last one I watched before bed. It's really good, I may have to watch it again at a later time, now that I think I can keep most of the main people straight. Such is the dilemma with most movies with large casts.

I wonder how many times they actually made jumps though. Surely more than the once we saw. Interesting fact, my grandfather was actually a paratrooper. Not in WWII though, too young, but he was in Korea. I don't know anything about what he did specifically, but I have respect for whatever it was after watching BoB.

Remix redux assignments are out! Yay! I got the fandom I thought I would.

Second date with what's his name this evening. I was dreading it all day. I just didn't want to do it. We'd set up to do mini-golf, and usually I love mini-golf. Frankly I just don't feel like dating, especially someone I don't know. And this guy sorta rubbed me the wrong way- even the fact that he thought my BSG t-shirt was awesome didn't make me like him any better. So I managed to make myself look as disinterested as possible hoping he'd take the hint, then when it was over, told him flat out that I'm not looking to get involved with anyone 3 months before I move.

Frankly, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with it anymore. Gods I hate dating.

So, um, here's something I didn't think I'd ever be posting about. I apparently slept through a murder 3 nights ago. According to what I learned this morning at work, a guy was shot and killed Saturday morning at around 2:30 in the parking lot of the apartment complex next to mine. That complex is a lot bigger than mine, so it easily could have happened in the back where I might not have heard anything had I been awake, but. Yeah. Freaky.

Just finished watching Inglorious Basterds. What. the. FUCK. That's all I have to say.

I finally got myself a doormat for outside my door. Pretty much everyone in the complex has one, and my door was looking awfully bare. I hadn't found one I liked enough to justify spending 20 bucks on until I went shopping the other day. It has a smiley face on it. :)

I have to wonder about the hit count on AO3. I have 3 hits on Forgive Us Our Trespasses, but none on Deliver Us From Evil. Maybe they read DUFE on my LJ, but FUOT on this site? FUOT doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense without reading DUFE first.

(Oh btw, there may be a 3rd in the series that runs through the end of the show. I have great ideas about what happens, I'm just having trouble finding a starting point that works.)

Since everyone was raving about it, I decided to read The Blind Assassin. I didn't care for it. Here's why:

One of my future roommates in VA (oh, yeah, I managed to get a room with a couple students who will be 2Ls next year, did I mention that? Anyway...) regularly updates her facebook status with something legal related. It's highly entertaining.

Sunburn still hurts, but it's getting better.

All my wedding gift shopping is done for the spring, woohoo! Both flights have been booked as well. Flight for wedding #2 gets in Thursday morning, as I recently received an invite to the bachelorette party. I've been to a lot of weddings, but this will be my first one of those!

Speaking of travel, I should have time off secured tomorrow for a trip to Vancouver. Woo!

I had the second part of my implant surgery done yesterday. This part was a lot easier- basically what they did was remove some of the tissue on my gums and insert the healing cap. Now I have a metal cap sticking out of my gums and let me tell you, it feels weird. First having gone 4 months with nothing there at all but a big hole, now not only is the space occupied, it is not by anything that feels like a tooth.

After a strange dream I had last night that involved me being at home and not wanting to leave, I'm feeling inexplicably homesick today. I think part of it may have to do with the fact that I'm in pain, I had a dentist appointment today where I freaked out for no real reason, and I just want to crawl into my big queen sized bed back in Bridgman instead of having to go to work here. Luckily, I actually am going home in 2 1/2 weeks (for a friend's wedding).
