Paul the octopus has called it again! Yayyyy Deutschland!

I was expecting this to be a close game, not a complete blowout. And Messi walks away with no goals this entire tournament.

I do expect Spain to trounce on Paraguay this afternoon, but we'll see how that ends up.

Finally saw this video tonight (In My Head):

Totally a rip-off of Like I Love You. Either that of 7-11 is a bangin' place to pick up chicks and do choreographed dances. There's a 7-11 down the road, perhaps I should test this theory sometime.

If anyone's curious as to which manips were mine (and just because I feel like posting them here!)

I really have little else to say except Yay Dutch! and Go Deutschland!

to convince you how nuts Germany goes over this sport...

Germany has a psychic octupus that predicts the outcomes of games.

Psychic. Octopus.

I traded in my glasses today. It's the same design of frame, but my old ones were crooked and the right side was pressing in on my head and giving me headaches. They couldn't seem to get them aligned right so just switched them out. I hope these will be better.
I also took off work early to get them fixed. They were bothering me so much I thought I was going to cry.

Why is it on the West Wing that the first thing any Republican seems to mention is guns? I've hobnobbed with a few Republican politicians in my day, and while it is a popular topic in Texas, I don't ever recall anyone from Michigan talking about gun rights. Hollywood stereotypes I guess.

I found an interesting article on that the other day, about TWW's perception of the right. The guy who wrote it is obviously very right wing, but I think he made an interesting point, both about political preconceived notions and that stereotypes certainly aren't always the norm in the real world.

If anyone has any more analytical articles on TWW, I'd be interested in reading them. Fictional politics is so much easier to debate than real politics.

Alex is sending a little rain our way, though really not much to speak of. Two inches maybe.

It took me 65 minutes to get home today. ARG! I hate it when it rains. There's also a flash flood watch in effect (I still maintain that Austin does not have a flood problem so much as it has a problem with lack of/poor placement of drains.)

The plus side is that it's not hot as hell anymore. I so can't wait to get to Canada, where it is nice and cool.

I have 2 more flag/country shirts! Yay! I think I'm up to about 12, but I can't wear Poland anymore because it shrunk. :(

The best part of this is that I can go back to wearing them all in a row for my first days at school again. I did that every year at Hope, and it confuses the hell out of people. I had one friend who for the longest time thought I was from Greece because of one of my collection.
(It also happens to be an effective way to keep street vendors away. Slip on a Latvia t-shirt and walk by like you don't understand English.)

I look much forward to see if I can fool anyone at UVA. :D

Oh Germany. The sad thing is, this song is probably charting right now.

[livejournal.com profile] trovia, I apologize if this makes you want to go hide under a rock. But it was too funny not to share.

(In case you missed what this is....which is tough given all the flags waving everywhere...they're rapping about soccer.)

You know, I was all prepared to go on this political tirade this afternoon, but I think, in the interest of not pissing off people, I shall keep my mouth shut and talk about soccer instead.

Both games turned out as I expected as far as the winner, but both were higher scoring than I expected. And they should quit bitching about England's disallowed goal, because they still got their asses kicked, and it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. But, as with all sports, people love to gripe about referees. That's one job I'd never want.
Next week's game should be real interesting.

If anyone wants Hoshi icons (not that I imagine there's a big audience for them), you're welcome to the ones I made for [profile] twelvecolonies.
