RAH! I can't watch event replays on nbcolympics.com because I don't get super deluxe cable and my provider won't let me. I tried my mom's cable provider and hers doesn't work either, because hers also requires some sort of premium service. *is mad*

I want to watch what I missed while at work!

A large wrench has essentially been thrown in my New Zealand plans. It seems that when assessing my finances, I'd forgotten that I have 2 weddings I need to be at this spring/summer.

So Flist, where can I go that is relatively cheap? I'd really like to use it on *something*, and I'll still have over a week left even after I visit the colleges I'm looking at.

By relatively cheap, I mean:
Someplace I can fly to for $400 or less. Or drive.
Someplace that has a lot of fun things to do without breaking the bank (so like, no Vegas, Disneyworld, etc)

Any places you'd recommend? Fun vacations you've taken in the past?

There is a visually impaired Biathalon in the paralympics. Can someone explain to me how that would work? How do you shoot?

How anti-climatic was that men's sprint biathalon? The weather just ruined it for almost everyone. Nordic combined was pretty exciting, though, with that sprint to the finish.

As far as the Amazing Race, I won't be watching tonight or next Sunday. But there is a team from Round Rock, and I will be rooting for them. :D

You know, I was thinking...it's an interesting statement that Iran chose a woman to carry the flag in the parade of nations. For a country who isn't expected to medal, who your flag bearer is means a lot.
I would imagine it would be easier for Islamic women to compete in winter sports, because with the exception of figure skating, you're covered head to toe, often with padding, anyway. Dress restrictions aren't going to be a hinderance like they tend to be in track and field. This of course all an aside from the fact that it doesn't snow in the Middle East.

Before they started showing the men's 5000m long track SS, they had a little uninformative snippet about the Dutch being nuts about speed skating. They showed the arena from Torino and the sea of orange...I tried to spot myself, but no such luck.
I don't even know what got aired on tv for the last Olympics. In Germany the coverage was not stop sports- I remember watching the qualifying rounds for Nordic Combined starting with the guy ranked like 80th or something like that.

I wonder if this lady is back this year. If not, I hope she passed on the hat to a worthy enterouge member.

Only 1/2 hour until prime time coverage. Woot!

The Olympics always brings good commercials..so I'm actually paying attention during breaks. I like the Coke commercial they had on last night with the snowball fight. I'd embed it, but youtube keeps freezing up on me.

Olympics start tonight! Woohoo! It won't be nearly as cool as the last winter games, simply because I won't be there this time.
Any guesses on final torch bearers? If Wayne Gretzky is not involved, I will be shocked.

OMG. Someone died on the luge track this morning. :(

Watched The Killing Fields. I'd wanted to see it, since it was nominated for Best Picture, and has Sam Waterson in it (back when he was a nobody. It's so odd to see him without gray hair!).

It was not as good as I had hoped. It takes forever to get going. Which doesn't help when it's over 2 hours long. It was good once it finally got good, but by that point the movie was half over. If you really want to see it, see it, but it's skippable.
