Thanks to the wonders of Facebook, I discovered that one of my acquaintances from college got married this weekend. I have a strong suspicion her marriage was arranged. For starters, she's been living in Georgia since graduation and he lives in New Zealand. I mean, they could have met online or on vacation of something, but considering her cultural background (they're both Indian), I'm getting the feeling it may have been arranged.

And hey, don't get me wrong, I wish her all the best. It's just surreal, the possibility that I know someone my age who's in an arranged marriage.

I had on satellite radio today and heard the song Live and Learn for the first time. You know...JC rapping on a tractor...that song.

There's a commercial for one of the mattress stores in the area that plays a lot on the local stations. One of the guys in the commercial has a lisp. And mattress store commercials are filled with lots of words like "sleep", "Seely", and "save". I'm sorry, but it's really funny to hear that commercial.

I'm reading a book I recently picked up and am finding that while sci-fi involving space ships and stuff blowing up is cool, wizards and trolls really aren't my sort of thing.

Got $12 for 2 of my LSAT books. Yay HalfPrice Books.

I had dinner at Chotchkie's tonight! Actually, the real restaurant's name is Alligator Grill, and it's a Cajun place, not a TGI Friday's knockoff. But it's the same location that was used for the movie. I discovered that on Mondays from 3-7 they have peel and eat shrimp for 10 cents a shrimp. I must keep this place in mind. :D

Crap. I apparently forgot to send in my tax forms when I sent my residency application to U of M. I hope someone there still has it, that form took me forever to fill out. The email I got says that residency can have an impact on admissions decisions, and now I'm really worried that my stupid oversight is going to cost me.

I went to the 1999 sing-a-long last night, which was a blast. Theater full of people belting out I Want It That Way = awesome. I have a good chunk of the songs they played on my ipod already. 1999, a great year music-wise.

We had breakfast tacos in the morning and cheesecake in the afternoon at work for January birthdays today.

It got up to 65 degrees here today. Hooray warm weather!
I need to find some sort of flat...thing. I started a puzzle my mom got me for Xmas and have discovered that my coffee table is not large enough. It's like 2 inches too short. I used to use an old display board from a high school science project, so I'm not sure what I'll use now. Or if they sell such flat things. Maybe I could just get a display board again. Hm.

Drove my shiny new car today yay.

I bought a cd by Jay Sean today with some birthday money. I dig it, he's kind of like a cross between Neyo and Craig David, both of whom I like. He has some older stuff in Punjabi, which is cool too.

Sent off the letter for a scholarship application to Pepperdine today. It's due this Friday, and even though I sent it Priority, I'm really hoping it gets there on time.

I've been getting a lot of "we'd like you to apply to our school!" letters (like 7-8 on a daily basis), most of which I don't pay much attention to, but yesterday I got one in the mail from NYU. Dude. NYU. Check this out:
US News rankings )
Perhaps Stanford is not a pipe dream after all? I'm still not getting my hopes up, but if NYU thinks I could be a competitive candidate for admissions, that's got to mean something.

I gots Texas plates! Yaaaaaaay! And I got rid of my old car. I can drive my shiny new one now. :D

I keep having bizarre dreams. Saturday I dreamt that I was in a marching band competition in Philadelphia. The day before the actual competition, I snuck away to meet [profile] ls_mutant. We played tennis at some point.

Then last night I dreamt that the Texas Water Works Commission (not a real agency, btw) was replacing a broken pipe and discovered a dead body. My agency sent me and one of the attorneys I work for to investigate, and to tell them what to do in this instance. My dad for some reason was there and was part of the team that was helping to do the digging (my dad works in water treatment and actually does replace broken lines as part of his job). When I got back to my agency, one of my friends from high school was there in a brawl of some sort.

You know that song by The Fray that starts off "I found God, on the corner of First and Amistad"? Well, there really is such an intersection. It's in the town of Quemado, Texas, right near the Mexico border. So if you've been looking for God, now you know where he's at.

Interesting story about The Fray: they actually performed at Hope College my freshman year. Before they arrived, they'd sent a demo cd with about 3 songs on it that you could pick up in the student union and see if they were someone you might want to go see. I didn't care for the cd, so I didn't go (I still don't care for The Fray. I don't feel like I missed much). I had a friend who did though, and when Cable Car became a huge hit a couple years later, she liked to point out that no one would go with her to see this now world famous band.

So yesterday, my original plans were to go to a place called Main Event up in north austin. Arcade games, bowling, laser tag, mini-golf. Sounded like a cool place. I got there and it was A) packed and B) crawling with 10 year olds. No thanks. So I went to Dave and Busters instead, which had way less of a crowd and way less children. I was there for a few hours, it was fun. Took myself out to dinner afterwards (since it was like 9 by this point) to Red Lobster. Mmm, seafood. Overall, it was a good birthday I think.

[personal profile] lls_mutant, your cookies have arrived! You'll find it really amusing the state of some them. Baltar has been decapitated (wasn't that what happened to him in the original series? lol) Tory has also been decapitated, apparently Chief got to her in transit.

Gaeta, Hoshi, and Dee are all in one piece.

And this is all that's left of Adama:

Hehehehehe.

I might as well be having my birthday back in Michigan...it's supposed to be 14 degrees tomorrow morning. This time last year I was wearing shorts.

You know what I'm looking forward to tomorrow? The barage of facebook messages, some of which are always from people I haven't heard from in like a year or more. It's fun to see who will randomly say happy brithday.

The CFO for my car came in the mail today. That means I can get my car registered on Monday! Yay! Then I can get rid of my other one. I have 2 cars right now, it's kind of ridiculous.

I discovered today that both attorneys that I work for also have birthdays in January. Weird.

Last night I went out for Thai food with [profile] soylahtayplease. It was fun, and we really should get together more often.

Pepsi Throwback >> regular Pepsi. /random
