I've been approved to take time off to go home. This comes on the same day that my friends from home announced they want to make plans for the holidays. *sigh* I hope they remember I don't have a car.

One of my friends in said group just had a baby last month. Is it bad of me that I really hope she doesn't bring the kid to whatever gets planned? If she does, everyone's going to be cooing over it the whole time, and frankly not how I want to spend the little time I have with said friends. Plus the fact that, and I'm sure I've mentioned this before, I really really don't like kids. Especially babies. (This is also part of the reason I don't date. I know my chances of finding someone who doesn't want kids is slim.)

I know it's unfair to slap the experience of the few onto the many, but I have had not so positive experiences with new parents. When my relatives had kids, they lost all semblence of their own personality. After reading The Feminine Mystique, maybe that's the product of being children of the 60s, who knows. After grandma died, there was no one left on that side of the family I could relate to anymore. My aunts and uncles only talk about 2 things: what's going on in their kids lives, or their own lives back in the 60s/70s. Although now that my oldest cousin is 13 (yes, oldest), we actually managed to have a real conversation last time I went to a family function.

In conclusion: I'm worried that my friend having a kid is going to completely screw up the dynamic we've had for years. Am I legitimately concerned? Or just overblowing it?

Oh dear lord. As if all the disco references weren't enough to date the first Strachey book, he now just used the sentence "He'd remember it...he had the memory bank of a Univac 90/60."

I do this every year, and it may be a little early, but what the hell.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but I am really ready for cooler weather. Not snowing cool, but down in the 50s or 60s maybe. 81 freakin degrees outside. It's almost still too hot to go rollerblading.

That church with the Berlin Wall replica is taking it down tomorrow. On it, there is a space that says "What are the walls in your life?" and below that there is a large blank black space. I have this urge to buy some sidewalk chalk and write "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" in big letters on it late tonight. I'm just afraid of getting busted.

Was at a Settlers meetup that was still going when I left, and I started going into sugar shock while there. I had intended on cooking dinner tonight since I went out for a hamburger last night, but there's nothing I could fix that quickly. Luckily I had a free burrito card at Freebirds.

I think now I shall curl up on the couch with my dinner and Donald and Timmy.

I am going to Seattle/Vancouver in 2 weeks! I'm having brunch with [personal profile] lorrainemarker on Saturday! I had the day off yesterday! LMC actually mailed in my transcripts! I very honestly think I can get at least one app in by Thanksgiving! I didn't have to list all of my parents' previous addresses on the Michigan residency form!

It's a good week. :)

November 11 and I have my air conditioning on. I'd go in the pool, but I discovered this weekend that they don't keep it heated. I went to sit in the pool, plop my LSAT book on the legde and do practice tests there, but the water was freezing.

I meant to get stuff done today. Hasn't happened.

A meme, because who doesn't like to brag about themselves? :D
Comment here and tell me something you did recently that you're proud of and I comment and tell you that you're awesome and I'm proud of you and shit. And if you see anyone comment and you know them (or understand why they'd be proud of that thing), then you comment to them and tell them why they should be pleased with themselves.

It can be anything! You ate breakfast! You made yourself go to work/class! You didn't punch that rude guy! Brag away, and let me tell you how awesome you are!!!!

20 years ago, the Berlin Wall fell. I've seen part of the wall, and I've studied German history fairly extensively, but it's not like I remember the wall falling (well, being knocked down if you want to get all technical), nor am I old enough to remember communism or feel any sort of emotional significance of that symbol of the end.

I am however, old enought to discuss the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street! Of course I'm not old enough to remember all 40 years, but who hasn't grown up watching Sesame Street these days?
My favorite muppet was the Count. Yeah, I was a nerd even back when I was 3. AH AH AH!

One thing I just realized about The Plan...when those Cavils get airlocked, it's somwhere in the last 2 episodes of season 2. After they destroyed the resurrection ship.

I hate smoke machines.

80's dance party = awesome. I was probably the youngest person in that room by like 10 years, but who cares? :)
